JB Sentral Guide: Johor Bahru's Transit Hub Explained

Last updated July 2026 — schedules and connections can change; always check official operator sources before travel.

JB Sentral is Johor Bahru's main integrated transport hub, combining intercity rail, city buses, and — soon — the RTS Link into a single interchange in the Bukit Chagar area. Here's how it all fits together.

Rail Services at JB Sentral

JB Sentral is the southern terminus for KTM Intercity's Ekspres Rakyat Timuran service to Tumpat and the Shuttle Tebrau service. The full KTM ETS service between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur launched in December 2025, with a one-way journey taking around 4 to 4.5 hours.

Bus Terminal

The JB Sentral building houses a local bus terminal on the Jalan Jim Quee side, connecting to Kulai, Skudai, Permas Jaya, Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi, and Larkin Sentral. The federal government's BAS.MY (Pink Bus) initiative also operates 13 routes departing from JB Sentral.

Connection to the RTS Link

The upcoming Bukit Chagar RTS Link station sits within a 400-metre covered walkway of JB Sentral, meaning travellers will be able to move between KTM Intercity/ETS trains and the RTS Link to Singapore without leaving the interchange. See our full RTS Link guide for journey times, fares and the current opening timeline.

Future Plans

JB Sentral is proposed to eventually integrate KTM Intercity, KTM ETS, and KTM Komuter Southern Sector services alongside its role as Johor Bahru's main transit bus terminal — consolidating the city's rail and bus network into one hub.

Living Near JB Sentral & the CIQ Corridor

As JB Sentral consolidates more rail and bus connections, homes within easy reach of the Bukit Chagar / JB CIQ corridor stand to benefit from the widest range of transit options into both Johor Bahru city and Singapore. EXSIM's Causewayz Square, The Celestz, and The Asteriaz sit within this corridor.
